District Profile

Fredericktown Local Schools (FLS), located in Knox County on Route 95 and 13, 10 miles east of Interstate 71, has a tradition of excellence in academics and student activities. Established in 1853, Fredericktown is a rural community and its citizens have continually supported its strong educational programs. Fredericktown has the security and flavor of a small town, blended with an innovative and progressive attitude. The result is a village where the people take great pride in their homes, school, and community. Fredericktown is also proud to be the home of the FFA Jacket. Fredericktown FFA Advisor Dr. Gus Lintner, designed the blue corduroy jacket and outfitted his students for the 1933 national convention. The jacket was so well-received, it was adopted as the official dress of the FFA during the same convention. An Ohio Historical Marker located at the school acknowledges this accomplishment. The community celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2007 and the population was 2,493 at the 2010 census. Major employers include Kokosing Construction and FT Precision.
