COVID-19 Guidelines for Staff/Students

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience as we go through the process of having COVID cases in our district. As of today we currently have 5 positive cases with staff and 3 positive cases with students (please see the COVID-19 dashboard on our district website for updates). We have approximately 25 students quarantined.

Notifications of Student and Staff COVID-19

If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, an email will go out to all staff and parents notifying them that a student/staff member has tested positive. The district or health department will contact-trace the individual who tested positive and notify staff or parents by phone if their colleague or a student has been in close contact with the positive individual and needs to be quarantined.

Quarantined staff or students do not need to be tested unless they develop symptoms of COVID-19. If a quarantined student develops symptoms and is tested, please notify Mrs. Sheriff, Mr. Garee, and Mr. Caputo.

What Determines Quarantine?

  • If an individual is within six feet of the individual who tested positive for 15 cumulative minutes, they may or may not  be quarantined.

    • If one or both of the individuals are not wearing their face covering properly (over mouth, nose, and chin), and are together for 15 cumulative minutes AND are within six feet, they ARE quarantined.

    • If you are six feet away from the individual who tested positive, you are NOT quarantined.

Example 1: If a student tests positive and a second student was wearing a face covering properly and sitting 3 feet away, as long as they were BOTH wearing face coverings properly, the second student is NOT quarantined (2 barriers with facemasks).

Example 2:  If a student tests positive and a second student was sitting 6 feet away while they were eating lunch, the second student is NOT quarantined (six feet away).

Example 3: If a student tests positive and a second student was sitting 3 feet away while they were eating lunch together for 15 or more minutes, the second student IS quarantined (more than 15 cumulative minutes without face coverings and within six feet).

Example 4: If a student tests positive and a second student was talking to them after school for 15 minutes, and they were not wearing face coverings and within six feet, they ARE quarantined (no face coverings for 15 minutes and within six feet of each other).

We will use the following chart from KPH to determine when to send students home.
