FFA takes 2nd place in the Ohio Forestry Competition and qualifies for the Big E Contest!

Recently the Fredericktown FFA Chapter had 5 members compete in the state level contest to test their career skills in Forestry at Hocking College. The following participated in that contest: Milan Pozderac, Ryan Matthews, Dalton Canter, Caity Gaddis, and Jacob Lotz. Each member had to complete the following practicum’s: Identify trees and complete a Timber Cruising practicum (where they had to determine the diameter of the tree and the number of logs that tree produces, approximate board feet, and figure the overall value of that tree if harvested) , identify leaves, forestry equipment ID, chainsaw parts, forest diseases and disorders. They also have to take a written test on the basic knowledge of Forestry. They placed 2nd place right behind Logan High School and will be advancing to the Big E Regional Competition in Springfield, Massachusetts next September. Jacob Lotz who took 8th individual overall. Milan Pozderac who took 9th individual and Ryan Matthews took 11th individually. Caity Gaddis and Dalton Canter will also join the team at the Big E Competition.
