The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized testadministered by the College Boardand cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The scores from the PSAT/NMSQT are used to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Not only does the PSAT help prepare students to take the SAT or ACT, the PSAT can also open the door to National Merit Scholarships and other awards. With $180 million dollars in scholarships awarded to students who achieve high scores on the PSAT, how a student performs on this exam can help determine scholarship money for the future.Only Junior scores will count towards the National Merit Scholarship Program.
