Crunch Out Obesity program

Dear Fourth Grade Parent:

In the next few weeks, fourth graders will learn a variety of exercises using an exercise ball during physical education classes.  Students will be encouraged and challenged to journal and log their time of using the ball at school and home.

As a gift from the United Way of Knox County, Knox County Health Department and the YMCA, all 4th grade students at Fredericktown Elementary School will receive an exercise ball to take home and keep.

Prizes will be awarded to students who turn in completed journals.  In addition, students will participate in an essay contest within our school, and winning essays will be entered into a county-wide competition. The essays will be focused on healthy living.

All exercise balls will be inflated at the school; therefore, we need your help in getting them home. Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s exercise ball on one of the following days:

April 2-4 (Wednesday through Friday)

2:45-4:30 pm

Fredericktown Elementary Gymnasium

In the event that you are unable to pick up your child’s exercise ball during the scheduled times, please let me know.  I can be reached at: 740-694-2781(Ext: 1309).

Sincerely,

Marilyn Rutherford

Physical Education Teacher
