Sophomore and Junior Students: It’s time to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT! Cost is $16, payable in the guidance office by September 20. The test will take place at the Administrative Offices (old HS) on October 11.
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The scores from the PSAT/NMSQT are used to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Not only does the PSAT help prepare students to take the SAT or ACT, the PSAT can also open the door to National Merit Scholarships and other awards. With $180 million dollars in scholarships awarded to students who achieve high scores on the PSAT, how a student performs on this exam can help determine scholarship money for the future. Only Junior scores will count towards the National Merit Scholarship Program.
