On Saturday, March 21st, six Fredericktown High School students participated in the North Central District Science Fair, which took place at the Ohio State University in Marion. Each project was judged three distinct times, was given a rating, and awarded certificates and special awards. Todd McKinley, grade 11, received a rating of “Good” on his project. The following students received a rating of “Excellent:” Justin Goeppinger, Kara Dilts, Caleb Carter, and Stefano Gallo. Rachel Caputo received rating of “Superior” and an invitation to attend State Science Day at The Ohio State University in Columbus on May 16th. In addition to this, Rachel received a naval science core medallion for her project, entitled “Take 2 and Call Me in the Morning.” She investigated the properties of various brands of aspirin and determined the amount of acetylsalicylic acid in each brand, along with a cost analysis.
