Making the decision to delay or close school is done with the safety of our students in mind. Road conditions, visibility, temperature, and wind chill are all factor into making these critical decisions.
When weather conditions make it necessary to close or delay school, SchoolConnects will deliver a recorded message to all phone numbers listed in Powerschool. Also, the following stations will broadcast Fredericktown Local Schools information, when possible, prior to 6:30AM.
4,6,10, 28 and ONN
WMVO-AM 1300 - Mount Vernon
WNZR 90.9 FM - Mount Vernon
WQIO Super Q 93.7 FM - Mount Vernon
KISS FM 98.3 FM - Fredericktown
WTVN 610 AM - Columbus
A two-hour delay allows for many things. It gives the village and township crews time to begin clearing the roads without the additional school traffic. It also allows us to get a better read on the weather and gives us time to clear our property for the start of school.
If it becomes necessary to close schools early during the day, WMVO-AM and WNZR FM as well as the TV stations will carry announcements. SchoolConnects will also deliver a message. As in the past, a delay may turn into a cancellation depending on the conditions.
Temperatures below zero also make starting our diesel engines difficult. PLEASE listen to the radio for the latest information. Announced delays are also for students walking or driving to school.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all our Fredericktown students.
